Laurelville 2018
“What. A. Weekend!” was the refrain around the office after each Laurelville Mud Weekend this year. It’s hard to know how much mud (or how much laundry detergent) it takes to pull off a Laurelville Mud Weekend.
“What. A. Weekend!” was the refrain around the office after each Laurelville Mud Weekend this year. For 55 years, we have faithfully invited youth leaders and their students to Laurelville Christian Retreat Center for the best weekend ever. This year, we welcomed 1,532 students and leaders over the course of 4 weekends.
Our seasonal camp-staff spent time before and at camp training together, growing together, and learning what it means to be part of a staff family as we carry out the work that God has called us to.
It’s hard to know how much mud (or how much laundry detergent) it takes to pull off a Laurelville Mud Weekend. And while all of the mud football we play and the dancing we do at camp are important pieces of Laurelville, the most significant part of camp is sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with kids. Every weekend we witnessed students enter into brand new relationships with Jesus, and every Sunday afternoon, we celebrated our new brothers and sisters in Christ.
Celebrating One Year of CHIDA
It seems like just yesterday that we were so excited to share that the Community Hospital IDADEE (CHIDA) opened its doors. CHIDA has been open for a year now, and the leadership of Dr. Wislyn and the unwavering dedication of the hospital staff have made CHIDA’s first year incredible.

In its first year:
9,614 patients have visited CHIDA.
1,074 people have received care in the Emergency Room.
124 babies were born at CHIDA.
The Community Health Program has grown to include 1,030 families. When a family joins the Community Health Program, a staff person visits twice a month to provide preventative care and deliver routine medication. Community Health Program workers currently care for 163 severely malnourished children.
